A healthier kids’ birthday party

Throughout the year, there are many occasions and special days that invite us to celebrate with food and treats that may not be the healthiest options.

While moderate amounts are fine, it’s easy for children to consume too much sugar and fat, which can replace more nutritious foods. However, it’s still important to mark these special days, and healthier alternatives don’t mean the celebration has to be any less fun! Here are some ideas to help you throw a healthier but still delicious birthday party.

Pizza is always popular at birthday parties, and you can make a few simple adjustments to serve a healthier version. Making your own pizza gives you control over the ingredients, and we recommend this pizza recipe, which swaps some of the flour for FiberFin. The pizza base is still light, but it has as much fibre as wholegrain bread—without losing that classic pizza taste. This recipe is also perfect for making pizza rolls.

Sliced fruits and vegetables can be served as snacks or sides. Arrange them on a large platter and use cookie cutters to make fun shapes out of melon, turnip, and cucumber. Serve with a simple dip made of natural yoghurt and cream cheese with herbs and spices, and it will be a hit with both kids and adults.Colourful fruit skewers also make a great dessert or snack option.

No birthday celebration is complete without cakes, and the same goes for a healthier kids’ party! If you want an easy cake with a variety of options, we recommend our Cake Mix. You can use this to make moist carrot cake, fresh raspberry cake, or a classic apple cake. Muffins are popular at many children’s parties, and our Baking Mix allows you to make a variety of muffins from a single mix. They are simple to make and ideal for involving children in the preparation process.

Chocolate and coconut is a winning combination, and our chocolate cake with coconut cream is a healthier traybake cake that’s guaranteed to disappear quickly. If you’re short on time, our Chocolate Cake Mix creates a rich, moist chocolate cake in no time. To make the icing, simply melt 200 g of sugar-free chocolate into 200 ml of warm double cream or coconut milk and stir until smooth. Alternatively, top the cake with our velvety Chocolate mousse, which is also delicious as a dessert on its own. Try garnishing with fresh berries or grated chocolate. Keep in mind that children fill up quickly, so cut the cakes into smaller portions before serving.

Sjokoladekake

Many children adore classic Norwegian sweet buns, and with this healthier recipe, you can serve fluffy, sugar-free sweet buns at the party.

Sitronlemonade

For a refreshing drink, try this raspberry lemonade. For a slightly tangier flavor, our lemon lemonade is a refreshing and thirst-quenching option. You can adjust the lemonade’s strength and sweetness by varying the amount of water used.

Smoothies are also great for children’s parties. If you use slightly less liquid than the recipe calls for and pour the mixture into ice lolly molds, you will have refreshing smoothie lollipops ready to go.

Ice cream is always a popular treat for both kids and adults. This fresh raspberry ice cream is quick and easy to make, and it’s sure to be a favourite on warm days. If you’re looking for a dairy-free option, we recommend this light and refreshing strawberry sorbet.
