Mix all the dry ingredients. Melt the butter and add in the milk. Once the mixture reaches a lukewarm temperature, pour it over the dry ingredients. Mix well.
Leave the dough to rise under plastic in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
Knead the dough well and cut it into finger-thick pieces. Shape into saffron buns; feel free to experiment with different shapes. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and set to rise for 45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Celsius. Wash the saffron buns with beaten eggs and decorate with raisins. Bake on the middle rack for 15 minutes.
