Instructions
Warm the milk to lukewarm and combine it with the yeast, sugar, and saffron or turmeric. Stir in the remaining dry ingredients, reserving some flour for rolling out.
Knead the dough well in a mixer or by hand. Gradually add the room-temperature butter in portions and continue to knead for about 15 minutes. Allow the dough to rise for about an hour in a warm place covered with plastic.
Mix butter, Finesse, and vanilla extract in a mixer until fluffy. Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread the butter mixture on top. Fold the dough three or four times, roll it out, and cut it into strips. Place the strips upright. Roll each end in from opposite sides towards the middle of the strip. Secure the ends in the middle before flipping the swirl and placing it on a baking tray.
Arrange the swirls on the baking tray and let them rise for another 45 minutes. Glaze with the beaten egg and bake in the centre of the oven at 225°C for 10–12 minutes.
Let the swirls cool slightly before brushing them with butter and dipping them in Sukrin:1 or Finesse.
